Welcome to our new blog. We are TEN, a group of successful Hong Kong entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, China, Canada,New Zealand, India, USA, Australia,  Holland, Nepal, and many other places. Opportunity drew us all to Hong Kong where we creatively, and in our own way, making our living.

TEN has three purposes:

1). To promote entrepreneurship

2.) To provide a platform for networking amongst members.

3). To form alliances with like minded associations internationally.

We meet the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 - 8:30PM  at Club Vertigo on the 26th Floor of QRE Plaza 202 Queen's Road Wanchai Hong Kong.

The agency specializes in design direction and strategic branding across a variety of mediums including print and interactive. Danielle Huthart has been called “a pioneer of creativity in Hong Kong” by Lane Crawford. Danielle is also co-creator of Creative City, Hong Kong's first design and culture focused map released in 2010. Her successful agency has worked with many notable Hong Kong companies and organizations, incl. the The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Wheelock Properties, The Hong Kong Ballet and many others. In her presentation, Danielle will share her experiences in starting and running a design agency; how she grew from free-lance to full-time and how she has dealt with the inevitable challenges of running a business with several employees and multiple clients and projects. Recognized for a modern sensibility combined with strong ideas, the award-winning studio has worked with Nan Fung Group, Wheelock Properties, The Hong Kong Ballet, The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Joyce, Starwood Hotels amongst others.   Danielle has been called ‘a pioneer of creativity in Hong Kong’ by Lane Crawford; and has curated a number of exhibitions and installations, often collaborating with other artists and creative people, both locally and internationally. TEN   Entrepreneur 'HOT SEAT' For the First Time at TEN! Do you have a challenge, problem or opportunity in your existing business that you want objective help in solving or exploiting? When: Wednesday, Feb 8, 2012 starting at 6:30pm (There will be two events on this day) Topic:  Entrepreneur 'HOT SEAT' If you have a specific business challenge, problem or opportunity that you need help in solving or exploiting, then this event is the perfect opportunity for you! TEN members will be given the opportunity to sit in the TEN “Hot Seat” where you can discuss your business issue(s) in detail and get suggestions from experienced entrepreneurs who most likely have faced similar situations before. TEN on Feb 8: DUAL EVENT! Business Competitions and Entrepreneur “Hot Seat”

TEN DUAL EVENT! Event 1: Significance of Entrepreneurship Competitions in Launching New Businesses Event 2: Entrepreneur “Hot Seat” for Solutions & Suggestions Event Details   Time:  Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm Topic:  Main Topic: Event 1: Significance of Entrepreneurship Competitions in Launching New Businesses Presented by Professor Ali Beba, Director of the HKUST Entrepreneurship Center Entrepreneurship competitions aim to encourage the formation of new businesses and increase awareness of entrepreneurship in general.  In this brief presentation Prof. Ali Beba will discuss the details HKUST’s 2012 Entrepreneurship Competition and the unique opportunities it provides for entrepreneurs and men and women with business ideas.  Winners will be awarded a package worth over HKD1,000,000 composed of cash and in-kind contributions.  The presentation is timely as the filing deadline for this year’s competition is February 29. Any business plan may be submitted but applicants are encouraged to focus on nanotechnology, information technology, renewable energy, environment, health, financial services, logistics and social entrepreneurship.  In this particular competition, applicants must consist of teams of from 2 to 5 individuals, one of which must be a HKUST student or alumnus.  Contestants will be evaluated and judged by professionals in various fields, including successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, venture capitalists, academics and other professionals based on Executive Summaries, “Trade Shows”, Elevator Pitches, written Business Plans as well as oral presentations. In his 30+ years of profession, he has worked extensively in and outside of Turkey for a range of public and private institutions as well as NGOs, including Smithco Engineering Inc, Procter & Gamble, UNEP, EU and WB.  He served as the Chairman of the Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Recovery & Recycling Trust (CEVKO) and taught engineering, business and entrepreneurship in academic institutions including Colorado State University in the USA; Ege, Yıldız Technical Universities and Ozyegin University in Turkey. In addition to his academic duties, he provides services for SMEs and NGOs to support their R&D projects and help them to draft professional business plans. He was the Academic Director for the Center for Entrepreneurship of Ozyegin University in Istanbul where he taught entrepreneurship to UG and MBA students and executed international outreach entrepreneurship activities such as, the Goldman Sachs Foundation (GSF)’s Global 10000 Women Entrepreneurs Program, European Forum for Entrepreneurship Research (EFER) and Life Long Learning (LLL) projects for EU. Our speaker on January 12, 2012, Doug Woodring, co-founder of Ocean Recovery Alliance, gave a highly interesting talk on “Serial Entrepreneur – How an Environmental Cause can Create Change and Opportunities”.

TEN - Proud Supporting Organization of InnoAsia 2011

The flagship annual event of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC), InnoAsia 2011, was held from Nov. 15-17, 2011.  This is an international event that helps to underscore Hong Kong’s aim to towards becoming a key technology and innovation hub in the region.  2011 marked the first time that TEN was one of InnoAsia’s Supporting Organizations.  (More about InnoAsia at www.innoasia.net)  During the same event, TEN officially started its partnership with HKBAN, Hong Kong Business Angel Network, and an Investment Matching Gathering (IMG), which included a TEN member for the first time, was held on November 17.

Shonee M Mirchandani is the managing partner of distribution company, Far East Media (Hong Kong) Limited and the retail subsidiary, Bookazine Limited. Established in 1985, Bookazine is Hong Kong’s friendliest general-purpose bookstore. Today, there are Six Bookazine shops, conveniently located in some of Hong Kong’s most prestigious shopping areas. In charge of marketing and business development, Shonee is responsible for rebranding and expanding the family business into one of Hong Kong’s leading chain of Bookshops.

Prior to joining Bookazine in 2002, Shonee worked in membership development at Amnesty International, at law firms Simpson, Thacher and Bartlett and White and Case and in the legal and compliance department for the investment banking division of Credit Suisse.

Born in India, Shonee moved to Hong Kong when she was two years old and grew up here. She received a Masters in Business Administration from Durham University and a Bachelor in Law from London University.

Over the years he constantly thought of inventions and finally took the plunge making a unique gadget in China and bringing it to retail in the USA. Please send your registration to info@ten.org.hk     About our speaker: Mr. Lewis Green Writer, producer & founder LG Home Products, LLC   Lewis Green grew up in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Los Angeles, CA where he worked on film sets while attending college.  Later he worked on over 300 TV commercials as Location Manager, Assistant Director and Production Manager.  Mr. Green went on to complete a 4-year apprenticeship with Emmy Award winning director Jackie Cooper (MASH, Trapper John, MD, The White Shadow). In the years that followed, Mr. Green worked on film crews in various capacities for major studios including Universal, Warner Bros, MGM and Columbia Pictures.   Mr. Green later became a professional screenwriter, working in "Hollywood" for 12 years.  He has written and developed stories for producers and directors.  Mr. Green has also written 24 screenplays with over a dozen sold, optioned or commissioned by various entertainment companies.  He has writing or producing credits on five films which have starred actors such as Antonio Banderas, Martin Sheen, and F. Murray Abraham.  In 2002, Mr. Green moved to Europe to work as writer-producer on various films.   In 2004, Mr. Green began a long planned business expansion into DRTV (direct response TV). In 2005 he founded LG Home Products, LLC and began to write, produce and direct TV commercials.
